The Howard University upper administration has imposed rather
stringent budgetary restraints, as a consequence of which departments are not
permitted to pay for the traditional Christmas office parties. This is
understandable. However, the upper administration prohibits us from using the
appropriate facility for our traditional Christmas gathering, if we “do for
self” by organizing a “pot luck” celebration.
Whose interests does the upper administration serve, those of the
outside corporation contracted to run the University center or those of the
students and faculty?
