In many regions of the Americas—North, Central and South—black folks
have been selling off their family lands and property at outrageously low
prices. Is that what took place when Howard University “monetized” its
extremely valuable real estate holding, Meridian Hill Residence Hall, for $22
million? Or could it be argued that it was not a sale but a “99-year ground
lease”? Furthermore this sweet, sweet deal benefited District developers Jair
Lynch Real Estate Partners. By the way, are we talking about the Jair Lynch,
one of a tiny group of black citizens to represent the U.S. in Olympic gymnastic
competition?
