In 1982, when the late Stanley Cyrus and I founded the
Afro-Hispanic Institute and the Afro
Hispanic Review, Howard
University was the leading institution in the world in the field of
Hispanophone Africana Studies. It was the only institution which offered the
B.A., M.A. and Ph.D. in this field. The upper administration of the University,
however, had already targeted the Spanish, French, and Portuguese programs for
extinction.
Is the upper administration of General Oliver Otis Howard’s
university driven by an anti-Hispanic bias?
