There are supposed to be three branches of government.
However, the three are now evenly divided—1.5 to 1.5—between the two major
parties. The Democrats control the White House and the Senate, that is, one
branch plus half of the second. The Republicans control the Supreme Court and
the House, that is, the third branch plus the other half of the second.
Talk about gridlock!
